What We Believe

What we believe at Mission Church about Jesus, the Bible, and the Church.

Our Beliefs

Because we believe the Bible is the only adequate guide to equip us as followers of Jesus, these foundational biblical beliefs stated below guide all that we say and do here at Mission.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God; it is God’s revelation about Himself to man. It is the only authoritative rule of faith and conduct for mankind. It is historically accurate and living truth, that is applicable to all time.

Numbers 23:19 | Psalm 12:6 | Proverbs 30:5 | John 17:17 | 2 Timothy 3:16 | 1 Peter 1:20-21 | 2 Timothy 3:16 | Hebrews 4:12

The Trinity

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

Genesis 1:26 | Psalm 45:6-7 | Psalm 110:1 | Isaiah 6:8 | Matthew 3:16-17 | Matthew 28:19 | John 1:1-5 | John 13:20 | 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 | 2 Corinthians 13:14 | Ephesians 2:18 | 1 Peter 1:2

God

We believe God the Father is the creator and sustainer of all things. He is sovereign and infinite, without limitations. God the Father can only be known through Jesus.

Genesis 1:1 | Colossians 1:16 | Acts 4:24 | Hebrews 1:3 | Revelation 4:11 | Psalm 145:3 | Jeremiah 9:23-24 | Romans 11:33 | Matthew 11:27 | John 14:6

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is at the center of everything. We believe that Jesus is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

Acts 4:12 | John 14:6 | 1 Peter 2:24

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is given to all believers to empower us to share what God has done for us. The nine fruits of the Spirit are the by-product of a Spirit-filled life and evidence of spiritual maturity. The gifts of the Spirit are different manifestations of the Spirit to build up the church. We are instructed to diligently seek the gifts, but they must be exercised in an orderly way in the context of love. There are also various experiences of The Spirit which the Scripture refers to as "fillings, baptism, & leadings".

Acts 1:8 | Romans 8:9 | Galatians 5:22-23 | 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 | 1 Corinthians 12:31; 14:1 | 1 Corinthians 14:26-33 | 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 | Acts 1:8, 2:1f | Matthew 4:1 | Romans 8:14 | Ephesians 5

The Separation

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

Genesis 1:27 | Genesis 5:1-2 | Romans 3:23 | Romans 5:12 | 1 Corinthians 15:49 | Colossians 3:10

Salvation

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and a fresh start with God (salvation), we must repent of our sins, believe in Jesus, and commit to His will for our lives.

John 3:16 | Galatians 4:4-7 | Hebrews 8:12 | John 3:3 | 1 Corinthians 6:19

The Church

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together. Serving God isn't for the spiritual elite, it is for everyone. God has a place for every person.

Ephesians 5:23 | Matthew 28:18-20 | Acts 1:8 | 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 | Ephesians 1:22-23 | Hebrews 10:25 | Colossians 3:16 | Ephesians 1:12 | Ephesians 5:16-20 | Psalm 9:10 | Jeremiah 9:24 | 2 Corinthians 4:6 | Philippians 3:10 | Colossians 1:9-10 | 1 Thessalonians 5:17 | Matthew 28:19 | Matthew 20:26-28 | Luke 6:35-36 | Acts 14:21-22 | 1 Thessalonians 5:11 | Ephesians 4:12-13 | Colossians 1:28 | Hebrews 13:17
